I am going to have my hair straightened tomorrow. How was your experience with it if you have had it

I'm a white female with thick, very thick actually, and it is very wavy. How did yours turn out? I don't want to have to blow dry my THICK wavy hair out every morning. I have to kids but I would still like to look polished.

Well, I'm not White, but I've had my hair straightened a few times (never chemically or permed).

My experiences have been good. My hair was in the hands of a professional who knew what exactly to do with my hair. Most hairstylists, no matter the race/ethnicity, see my hair and run the other way (very thick curly/frizzy). She gave my hair a deep washing with some of the greatest, and expensive, shampoos and conditioners out there. After softening my hair with a moisturizer, I had to sit under the drier for close to an hour.

My hair was blown out first then she used an iron. Overall, it took around 3 hours to do my hair. I asked my stylist for information about frizz creams, leave-in conditioners, gels, what type of brush I should use, etc. and she was very helpful. My hair was straight with some waves so it had the amount of volume I wanted (I hate flat hair!), and it looked like a hollywood styled look.. My hair stayed straight for about a week before it started to get wavy again.

Be sure to ask your hairstylist questions about how to keep your new look for as long as you can. Seeing as how your hair is very thick, I'd say that you'd have a 5 days to a week, tops, of straight hair.

I iron my hair with a conventional clothes iron. It's weird i know but it gets the job done in less than 10 minutes... People don't believe me because i have thick curly hair that almost reaches my waist. When i do it my hair gets super straight. But for this you are going to need an assistant to iron your hair. I can do it on my own now but that's after 5 years of practice.

1. Wash hair

2. Blow dry

3. Brush out

4. Divide into sections

5. Iron out small sections at a time

Put a small section of your hair on the ironing board and the person holding the iron down must brush out your hair as they iron. DO NOT USE STEAM!

Don't forget to apply some hair serum before ironing to protect your hair!

It sounds difficult but if you practice enough you can have ur hair straight alot faster!

Chemically straightened? Ive known people who have gotten it done and apparently it makes your hair extremely flat and has no volume. But I suppose if thats what you want, its worth it :]

my hair is the exact same way, except i dont have kids. i dont ever blow dry my hair. i straighten it every morning, it takes a while, but since i am still in school, its totally worth it. my hair is also frizzy, very much so. i think you should, its a whole lot easier, at least from my experience. Good luck to you!

I have done it quite a few times but never with chemicals.

It looks great to have super straight hair.

But you have to be a little more careful with your hair care...like good shampoo and conditioner , hair serums and good scalp massage etc.
