How do I convince my mom to let me get my hair straightened?

My mom always twists it in the front and puts rollers in it in the back so when my hair is done its curly in the back and twisted in the front. When all of my hair is down its just past my collar in the back and in the front its just below my eyes. At some places in the front its right above my jaw. I'm pretty sure it would look good but she wont let me cuz she said it will look to ghetto or tore up. I at least wanna try!!

Mom should let you do what you want with your hair...Hey, it is your hair right? I am a Mom of 2 kids, and I think your hair, which is a pretty important part of your "look" and also part of your overall style, lends greatly to your self expression and self-esteem, which is why I have never "stopped" either one of my kids from doing what they wanted to do with their hair...as long as it was not injurious to their health (their scalp, in particular!) Straightening your hair is definitely not a drastic thing to do...you just have to careful not to damage your hair and scalp. You should also use products that protect your hair during thr straightening procedure. Whether you are using a chemical straightner (you should go to a professional hair stylist for that) or you are going to use one of the many straightening "irons"..they range in price from $40-$200, make sure your hair is and going to be WELL conditioned before you begin. Daily conditioning is also recommended.

Good luck...I am sure Mom will understand if you tell her it would make you feel good about yourself...Ghetto is an attitude you project , if you want, not a style, anyway.

If nothing else you can tell her one time you want to do it yourself, then do it as you would like... If you don't like it and it really looks awful as she thinks you'll just wash your hair and do it again the usual way...

Maybe you should go to a hairdresser and get a makeover do that will look good when it's straightened...

Good luck!

i don't know a lot about ethnic hair but could you just buy a regular straightener say at walmart. i was there yesterday and they had a couple with African American models so maybe if you were to just use a flat iron instead of going to a salon and permanently straightening it your mom would feel more at ease just knowing you can wash it and make it curly whenever you want good luck!

Tell her it won't. Get research and show her pictures of what it really looks like. It's just your hair getting straight, that's all.

Don't let her do your hair. If you want to do get it straightened permanently, get a friend and hairdresser flat iron it for you to see if it looks good. Take pictures or shiw your mom. It's your hair, you get to decide.

  1. how can i convince my dad to get a hair staightener brush?

it is leading up to my birthday and the thing i really want is a hair brush staitener as it dose less damange to your hair and on top of that i have checked all the reviews of the product and also seid i would used something to protect my hair on top of that so theres no damage ut my dad says that, it will damage my hair which i know it wont or it costs to much money however the one i want cost $50 but its for my birthday and isnt that much coz its one of the only things asked for and that my hair looks 'butiful' as it is but it is really hard to mange and theres allways bits sticking out and it being to wavey to probley braid.
