My hair gets so dried out when I use the straightening plate...what can I do?

Are you using a ceramic?? Make sure you use ceramic and use a cream BEFORE you use it. Like a serum or heat protectant. Go to sephora.com and browse for products.

Use olive oil to naturally moisturize it

Use the straightener only a certain number of times per week. Also, condition. Use a regular conditioner nad let it sit on your head for a half hour. Wrap it in saran wrap and cover that with a towel. That will help penetrate the hair. Then after the half hour remove all and rinse.

Make sure you condition your hair every time you wash it. Before you straighten it, try putting a leave in conditioner on and blow drying (or using one of those home heat helmet things, like in a salon) your wet hair until it's damp, brush it out, then flat iron it. Also, make sure you use a deep conditioning treatment on your hair once a week.

dont straighten it to ofter its not good for ur hair

1. use a good conditioner for dry/damaged hair daily and a deep conditioning treatment once/week. (aveda is great and has both)

2. Straighten your hair only 2-3 times/week.

3. When you straighten your hair put a product on like "framesi" when it is still damp...the creme straightener mixed with the polishing oil that will also straighten and protect your hair. Don't use much....a little goes a long way.

4. Use a good blowdryer than will not only protect your hair but will help with the straightening as well. Chi has a good one.

5. Before you straighten each section use a little of the "framesi' straightening balm oil mentioned above. Again, a little goes a very long way. Put just a drop in your hand and rub it well in your hands then apply to the section before straightening.

This should not only get your hair back into good condition and keep it that way but also keep it straighter for a longer time and make it easier to straighten as well.

Good luck....I completely understand your dilemma. I have one thick mass of curls on my head! I suppose we all want what we don't have for whatever reason?? Once I started doing the above and also realized that while I didn't like it curly but others thought wonders of it and I now leave it curly alot as well. ...good luck!
